Luke 24:49- “Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
Acts 2:1- “On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place.”
The Festival of Pentecost.
As the Israelites celebrated Pentecost, they offered to God the first-fruits of the wheat harvest.
By offering to God the first-fruits of grain, the believer was saying the whole field and crop belonged to God.
God offered to His church the first-fruits of the Spirit. Christ places the Spirit within the believer as a pledge that the whole person, body and soul, belongs to him.
Over time, Pentecost also came to be celebrated as the anniversary feast of the giving of the Law or the establishment of the Old Covenant on Mt Sinai.
A cloud descended with loud noice and fire. God wrote His law on tablets of stone!
In Acts 2 when God poured out His Holy Spirit on all flesh the Holy Spirit descended with a loud sound and fire. God wrote His law on our hearts!
Ezekiel 36:26- “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.
The Holy Spirit will give you a new, tender, responsive heart! HOW
John 14:17- “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.”
“HE LEADS US INTO ALL TRUTH” How? He communicates. He talks, we listen, we talk, He listens!
SOUNDS A LOT LIKE PRAYER DOESN’T IT!
THE REST OF THIS MESSAGE IS GOING TO BE IN THE FORM OF A PRAYER!
After all before the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, they were praying!
Acts 1:14- “They all met together and were constantly united in prayer,…”
Jesus taught about the Holy Spirit more about the Holy Spirit than any other time in John 14, 15, 16.
So on the Day of Pentecost Peter Peter stands and says “This is That!”
WHO IS THAT!
Peter wasn’t trying to explain tongues to them. He was introducing them to a Person!
IN PRAYER WE’RE GOING TO DISCOVER THE PERSON OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
JESUS ALREADY TOLD THE DISCIPLES “THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL BE IN YOU.
- Holy Spirit Fill Me
On the Day of Pentecost the Bible says they were FILLED with the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18- “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,”

John 14:16- “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—“
2. Holy Spirit Help Me
John 14:27- “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

John 14:26- “But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.”
3. Holy Spirit Reveal Truth to Me
Hebrews 4:12-13- “For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.”
Man did not write the Bible. The Holy Spirit did. Man just held the pen! The Holy Spirit inspired every word in this Book.

John 16:8- “And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.”
4. Holy Spirit Convict Me
Psalm 139:23-24- “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”

John 16:13- “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”
5. Holy Spirit Guide Me
Isaiah 30:21- “Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.”

John 15:26- “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”
6. Holy Spirit Use Me
Acts 1:8- “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Holy Spirit use me to make a difference in the world!
Conclusion: Holy Spirit what are saying to me today
Holy Spirit, Fill Me, Help Me, Reveal Truth to Me, Convict Me, Guide Me and Use Me.
