Christmas is a wonderful time of giving gifts, but too often children are more focused on GETTING gifts. They make their wish lists, bug their parents to get them exactly what they want, and sometimes even throw fits if they get a different gift than what they wished for.
Selfishness runs rampant during the holidays. People are often focused way too much on themselves and not on others. In addition, they end up losing focus of the REAL reason for the season – Jesus!
Through the story of King Herod, the children will learn that selfishness can have some very ugly consequences if we let it take root in our lives. They will learn to turn their attention away from themselves and turn it on others. Ultimately, they will learn that Christmas is all about forgetting one’s self and focusing on Jesus, the reason for the season!
