The Identity Journey

Free to be Me series

How many people in here have asked God at one time or a million times in their life who God created them to be? You’ve asked you family, friends or even your Dog knowing there had to be an answer but really feeling like they got a real-life changing answer.

We cannot afford to walk around this world unaware of who we are and who God has created us to be. We were created for a purpose and as long as we live life unaware of that purpose and unaware of who we are we will not live to our fullest potential.

Question: Where do I go to have my identity, value, self-worth defined?

To begin the Identity Journey

Point 1: My identity is defined by who God says I am –

Psalm 139:1-6 & 13-16(Screens)

We have to get the heart of the Father our creator.

The creator is and always will be our best source of identity.

What cannot define me:  Performance Based Identity

  • Talents, giftings, my job
  • Other people’s opinions
  • My experiences

These things are not necessarily bad, but they ALL have to be subject to who God says I am.

Point 2: There’s a war over my identity

The enemy is after YOUR identity and most certainly the identity of our generation.

And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brothers[b] has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. REVELATION 12:9-10

When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. – John 8:44

STOP BELIEVING EVERY THOUGHT THAT POPS INTO YOUR BRAIN.

We have got to be able to recognize what things we believe about ourselves that are lies or that are counterfeit. – Next point

Point 3: Intimacy = Identity Whatever you connect your life to is what you will reflect and look like.

And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[e] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[f] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.– 2 Corinthians 3:18 – YOU BECOME WHAT YOU BEHOLD

I was created for Intimacy with God. EVERYTHING flows from intimacy.

It’s when we’ve been saturated in the presence of God that we can recognize/discern the thoughts and beliefs that don’t come from God.

Synonyms of Intimacy: Belonging, chumminess, closeness, familiarity, inseparability, nearness.

Authentic/Counterfeit money Story

When you WAKE up to who God has created you to be all of Hell is terrified of you and CHRIST IN YOU. The enemy is terrified of the son /daughter of God who unwaveringly knows who they are! – Get WOKE. Stay WOKE.

THE QUESTIONS IS… IF I’M NOT GOING TO THE FATHER TO BE DEFINED THEN WHERE AM I GOING? I AM BEING DEFINED BY SOMETHING.

Steps to start the Journey of Identity:

  1. Ask God who do you Say I am.

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. – Galatians 3:2

For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. – Romans 8:14

  • Recognize there is a war over your identity and ask the spirit to help you recognize when you believe something about you that He isn’t saying.
  • Start or continue consistent intimate time with God because that’s where we are being made into the image of Christ of who our Father has created us to be.
