2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)- “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
Fear doesn’t play around! Fear comes to consume our lives! Fear is a wall that keeps us from God’s best!
We think fear is about being afraid but it’s much more than that. Fear is a spirit and our enemy uses it against us!
Fear is manifested through ANGER, INSECURITY, CONTROL, INDECISION.
BUT HERE’S THE GOOD NEWS!
Romans 8:15,16 (NLT)- “So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.”
HOW TO OVERCOME FEAR
- Stand Your Ground
Exodus 14:13,14 (NLT)- “But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”
Every decision you make in fear you later regret! Stand your ground!
Ephesians 6:11 (NLT)- “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.”
Overcome fear! Stand your ground!
II. Pray for Peace
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)- “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
Are you struggling with fear. PRAY! Tell God what you need and then thank Him!
MAKE PRAYER YOU FIRST RESPONSE AND NOT YOUR LAST RESORT!
Overcome fear! Stand your ground and pray for peace!
III. Object to Lies
Object- to disagree with something or oppose something
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)- “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
Obedient- Attentive hearing, to listen with compliant submission, assent, and agreement.
Object to the lies of the enemy. Know the truth of God’s Word and what God says about you!
Philippians 4:13 (NLT)- “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Overcome fear. Stand you ground! Pray for peace. Object to the lies of the enemy.
IV. Trust God
YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE A SIDE! YOU HAVE A GOD THAT IS FOR YOU AND NOT AGAINST YOU! NOT ONE OF HIS PROMISES WILL FAIL!
Psalms 56:3-4 (NLT)- “But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
What can mere mortals do to me?”
Psalms 118:6 (NLT)- “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”
Overcome Fear! Stand your ground! Pray for peace! Object to the lies of the enemy. Trust God!
V. Know God
Ephesians 1:16,17- (NLT)- “I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.”
ONE STEP FURTHER
Hosea 6:3- “Oh, that we might know the Lord! Let us press on to know him.
He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.”
I believe that when you truly get to know God, you’ll never fear another day in your life.
CONCLUSION: So Stand your ground! Pray for peace! Object the lies of the enemy! Trust God and Know God!
OVERCOME FEAR
What is the Holy Spirit saying to you today?
THE ENEMY USES FEAR TO SUPPRESS US AND GOD USES FAITH TO BLESS US! The enemy wants to keep you from being who God created you to be! It’s time to fight because your future is on the other side of fear! BE FINISHED WITH FEAR!
