2 Timothy 1:7- “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
We must face the future with courage and not fear! Fear is a spirit. If you have a spirit of fear it may influence you stronger in one area but it will affect your whole life. Fear will paralyze you!
Today we’re talking about the FEAR OF FAILURE. Everyone fears failure!
Matthew 25:24-29- “Then the servant with the one bag of silver came and said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t cultivate. I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’ “But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate, why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some interest on it.’ “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of silver. To those who use well what they are given, even more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But from those who do nothing, even what little they have will be taken away.
OVERCOMING THE FEAR OF FAILURE
- You Will Fail
James 3:2- “We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.”
Allow yourself feel the disappointment, but not the disapproval.
Failure is an event-never a person!
Romans 5:3- “We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance.”
2. You Can Overcome Failure
Proverbs 24:16- “for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,”
What happens IN YOU is more important than what happens TO YOU!
Galatians 6:9- “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
3. You Must Take Faith Risk
Hebrews 11:6- “And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”
Your greatest fear may be failure and if that controls your life your greatest pain will be regret!
What faith risks is God calling you to take?
Acts 5:38-39-“Therefore, in the present case I advise you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail. But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; you will only find yourselves fighting against God.”
CONCLUSION: Feel the fear and take the risk! Some of us have been playing it safe for too long. What has God called you to do? What has God put IN YOU?
Romans 8:28- “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Have you surrendered your life to the purposes of God?
