INTRODUCTION: Early Thursday morning I had a dream. I don’t often have what some call spiritual dreams but when I do it seems that God quickly downloads the meaning of the dream.
In this dream a transition was taking place. It was actually a change in leadership. Transition can be difficult and one of the people in the dream had a really negative attitude toward what was taking place.
Transition can be difficult. But I believe a season of transition handled correctly will propel you to God’s plan and purpose in this transition.
Romans 8:28- “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
What’s going on in your house is more important than what’s going on in the White House!
One of my favorite stories in the Bible concerning transition is John 21.
You have to put yourself in Peter’s feet, the disciples feet to really catch this.
SHARE STORY-
Think about, these disciples are going through a transition. They’re going through a leadership change in their life.
Jesus is going away and now they’re going to have a leader they can’t even see!
Talk about transition! In transition, even one you don’t like, God still has a plan!
AND MY ATTITUDE DURING TRANSITION WILL LAUNCH ME INTO GOD’S PLAN
A GREAT ATTITUDE
- Who’s in your boat?
Whom are you fishing with?
God did not create you to live life alone! Do you have people in your boat that can love you, help you, correct you.
In this season Satan is dividing, separating, isolating to steal, kill and destroy.
We need to be intentional about connecting with one another!
Hebrews 10:25- “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
Who’s fishing with you? Who’s in our boat?
Who in your boat is pointing you to Jesus?
John 21:7- “Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!”
If you’re going to have a GREAT ATTITUDE during this transition you need to examine who’s in your boat.
2. Listen for the voice of Jesus
He’s showing up right where you’re at and he’s speaking to you!
LET ME GIVE YOU FIVE WORDS YOU’LL NEVER HEAR HIM SPEAK!
“I didn’t see that coming.”
He’s speaking from the shoreline friend!
John 10:27- “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
3. Obey what He says
We need to actively be listening and obeying. We need to be sitting at his feet hearing what he has to say.
Listening and obeying moves us beyond this natural realm, this fleshly realm.
Listening and obeying moves me to a place of living by faith and not by sight!
Isaiah 55:9- “For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”
WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE WHEN YOU LISTEN AND OBEY
4. You’ll enjoy the feast he has prepared for you
John 21:9- “When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.”
Psalms 81:13-14- “Oh, that my people would listen to me! Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths! How quickly I would then subdue their enemies! How soon my hands would be upon their foes!”
Psalms 81:16- “But I would feed you with the finest wheat,I would satisfy you with wild honey from the rock.”
Psalms 23:5- “You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies.
You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.”
WITH THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
5. God is going to awaken dreams in you
John 21:15- “After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”
At this moment Jesus was awakening the dream in Peter. Some say Peter was be recommissioned.
Acts 2:17,18- “‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. In those days I will pour out my Spirit even on my servants—men and women alike— and they will prophesy.”
CONCLUSION: A Great Attitude. At the end of the dream I had I said these words and then woke up. “Transition is hard.” It is, but if you’ll get the right people in your boat, listen for the voice of Jesus, obey what he says and enjoy the feast he has for you (right attitude) you’ll step into your greatest days!
WARNING: If you’re attitude is wrong you’re going to miss what God is doing in this next season! What is the Holy Spirit saying to you today?
